The sad part is that Filipinos are being stereo typed as domestic helpers, entertainers and caregivers and are being discriminated in some parts of the world. However, countries in Europe, Middle East and North America are places where one can have more than one job, it is but normal to see Filipino people strive to work from one place to another and maximize their hours in one day, all these sacrifice and adversity are endured so as to be able to send more money to their families back home. There are times that in some countries there would be conflicts going on and the safety of everyone is under uncertainty, thus Filipinos would face whatever consequences and not accept the offer to go home justifying that they would be left without work once they return to the Philippines, which is partly true since most overseas contract workers are past the age limit that are set by majority of the local companies while others are not equip with an education to be able to land a job. Though being hailed as the modern heroes due to the dollars they remit to their families which add to the country’s income, the Overseas Filipino Workers feels the inadequacy of what their lives would be once they can no longer work abroad.
There are those who denies the fact that not all Filipinos wants to work in foreign land, however with the difficulty that a person has on his day to day battle with the problems that he faces once he set out to go to work and realizing that what was left from his wage is not enough to give to his family the comfort and security in life he wants for them. The struggles that a person tackles would often push them to leave the convenience of their homes and try to find a profitable work in foreign land. This is the motivation that each contract worker goes through to be able to cope with the adversity and difficulty that is awaiting them to where they are going.
